Pap Smear & Cervical Screening
Pap Smear & Cervical Screening in Frankfort, Illinois
Physician-led cervical cancer prevention, done with comfort, clarity, and unhurried care
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers we screen for, and a Pap smear is the reason why. This simple, few-minute test collects a small sample of cells from the cervix so we can catch abnormal changes years before they would ever become a problem. At Sina Medical Direct Primary Care, your screening is performed and reviewed by Dr. Syeda Farheen Ali, MD, a physician who takes the time to explain every step and answer every question.
Because we are a direct primary care practice, your Pap smear happens without the rush, copays, or insurance friction of a traditional clinic. Your flat $89/month membership covers unlimited visits, direct access to Dr. Ali, and wholesale-price labs, so a screening that is often stressful becomes a calm, straightforward part of caring for yourself.

Meet with Dr. Ali
Before anything begins, Dr. Ali reviews your history, explains the exam, and answers your questions. You set the pace, and your comfort guides every step.
The Pap smear itself
During a brief pelvic exam, a soft brush or spatula collects a small sample of cervical cells. The process takes only a few minutes and is generally painless, though you may feel mild pressure.
Lab analysis
Your sample is sent to a certified laboratory for microscopic review, with HPV co-testing added when appropriate for your age. You pay wholesale lab pricing, never marked-up fees.
Results and next steps
Dr. Ali personally reviews your results with you, explains what they mean in plain language, and, if anything needs a closer look, coordinates repeat testing, colposcopy, or specialist referral with full support.

What We Treat
Who Should Consider Cervical Screening
Routine screening is recommended for most women, with timing based on age and personal history.
Current guidelines recommend a Pap smear every three years for women ages 21 to 29. For women ages 30 to 65, a Pap smear every three years or a combined Pap and HPV test every five years is recommended. After age 65, screening may no longer be needed if your prior results have consistently been normal, and Dr. Ali will help you decide what is right for you.
Some women benefit from more frequent screening, including those with a history of abnormal results, a weakened immune system, prior HPV infection, or specific risk factors. Screening is also safe during pregnancy and is often performed in the first trimester as part of routine prenatal care.
If you are unsure when your last Pap smear was or whether you are due, that is exactly the kind of question Dr. Ali is here to answer. Together you will build a screening schedule that fits your life and keeps you protected.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Pap smear hurt?
Most women find the test painless, though you may feel brief mild pressure or slight discomfort as the sample is collected. The entire process takes only a few minutes, and Dr. Ali works at a pace that keeps you comfortable throughout.
How often do I need a Pap smear?
For ages 21 to 29, every three years is recommended. For ages 30 to 65, that's every three years with a Pap alone, or every five years with combined Pap and HPV testing. Dr. Ali will personalize your schedule based on your history and any risk factors.
What is HPV testing and do I need it?
HPV testing checks for the human papillomavirus, the primary cause of most cervical cancers. It is typically added to your Pap smear starting at age 30, and Dr. Ali will recommend it when it is appropriate for you.
What happens if my results are abnormal?
An abnormal result rarely means cancer. It may simply call for repeat testing, HPV testing, or a closer look through colposcopy or biopsy. Dr. Ali explains every finding clearly and coordinates any next steps with full support.
Can I get a Pap smear while pregnant?
Yes. Pap smears are safe during pregnancy and are often performed in the first trimester as part of routine care. Let Dr. Ali know you are pregnant so she can tailor the exam appropriately.
Is my screening covered by the membership?
Your $89/month membership covers your visit and Dr. Ali's time with no copays. Lab processing is billed at wholesale pricing, so you always pay a fair, transparent rate. Memberships are also HSA-eligible starting January 1, 2026.
