“Restoring the Sacred Doctor-Patient Relationship” is not just a tagline; it’s the personal philosophy of Dr. Syeda Farheen Ali. After years in the traditional healthcare system, Dr. Ali witnessed firsthand how insurance barriers and rushed appointments fractured the trust and quality of care.
She founded Sina Medical Direct Primary Care to offer a patient-centered solution — a practice where doctors work for patients, not for paperwork. She is deeply committed to the principles of functional medicine, with a core focus on preventative care for all her patients.
The Inspiring Journey

Dr. Ali’s unique journey as a physician spans continents and diverse healthcare systems, giving her a global perspective that deeply informs her patient-centered philosophy.
She earned her medical degree in 2003 from Baqai Medical University, Karachi, Pakistan. There, she witnessed the stark contrast between socialized medicine for the less fortunate and premium insurance-based care for the privileged.
Her path led her to Canada, where she experienced the beauty of universal healthcare, ensuring her family's well-being without financial burdens.
For further medical expertise, Dr. Ali pursued her residency at Michigan State University in 2011. There, she encountered the most complex patient cases, honing her understanding of disease pathology in ways she couldn't have elsewhere — a pivotal training ground that set the stage for the next decade of her career.
The Tipping Point
As an internist in the Midwest region of Chicago, she found herself grappling with a deeply flawed healthcare system. Hidden fees and surprise bills became all too common, leaving patients frustrated and delaying necessary treatments. Heart-wrenching stories of individuals depleting their savings to battle illness haunted her.
The inspiration for change struck in March 2023 when she stumbled upon the video by Josh Umbehr (the pioneer of the DPC model), which offered a beacon of hope in revolutionizing American healthcare. The final, emotional commitment came at her father’s funeral on May 8, 2023. She resolved to channel her grief into creating meaningful change. She resigned from her previous position and embarked on a journey to establish a DPC practice.

I aim to offer comprehensive and compassionate care because every person is unique and deserves an individualized treatment plan. I believe in delivering compassionate care while providing my patients with the most advanced treatments. I also want to give each patient the time and resources they require to achieve his/her health goals.
I continually strive to educate my patients on their condition, treatment choices, and generalized well-being to overcome disease and restore life quality. I believe well-informed patients are better prepared to make decisions about their health.
